1. Application Pathway Summary

1.1 Relationship commenced

Initial Contact

· We receive an enquiry via phone, email, web asking for general information about WO.

· Get mailing address (if not given) and send covering letter with Preliminary Enquiry Pack and some general literature

· Initial details entered onto contact Database system

Relationship Established

Preliminary Information

· After receipt and first review of the Preliminary Enquiry Form we contact the enquirer for permission to seek a church reference. Then follow up with Church Pastor and one other referee.

· We then commence an investigation of the relevant fields regarding possible opportunities in line with the enquirer’s desires.

Relationship deepened

Application

With a positive response from the church and a meeting with the Pastor/Leaders, we seek to discover the appropriateness of proceeding down the path of a full application process.

· Formal application pack is sent out

· Field investigation continues

· Application papers received back from applicant

· Meeting held to explain application process and possible field opportunities

· Doctors report undertaken

· Initial formal orientation to WO meeting held (after acceptance of psychological test)

Relationship Confirmed

Assessment

· Applicant is introduced to a prospective team leader for direct communications etc.

· Through the process to date, a relationship has been developed between the applicant, the Pastor/Sending Church Representative and World Outreach.

· An ‘assessment meeting’ is convened with a World Outreach panel (and possibly includes Church Pastor/Rep.) to discuss various issues, and applicant suitability for possible appointment

· With the church agreement a recommendation is made either: Unconditionally, or with certain reservations, or not at all.

· The World Outreach panel discuss the assessment with WOI leadership and the sending church.

Relationship continued

Appointment and Orientation

· WOI Mission Council approves applicant for service

· Job/Role description is developed with applicant, field leader, sending church, and national office

· Promotion and fundraising commences

· Brochure and Prayer Card designed in cooperation with National Office

· Response slip developed

· WO provides letter of recommendation

· Second detailed orientation meeting

· Departure details set as 100% support is approached

Internship Commences

· Applicant is considered a WO Intern when approved by the WOI Mission Council in writing.

· Finances forwarded by National Office

· Regular correspondence is expected – to both WO and home church

· Prayer needs are shared – to both WO and home church/Sending cell.

· Relationship with sending church continued but after worker leaves for field WOI leadership takes responsibilities for all ministry aspects of the worker.

· When home on furlough (in home country) National Office is primarily responsible for the Field Worker but works with input from Sending Church and Sending Cell.

· Final Orientation takes place at WOI Singapore or appointed location primarily to establish relationships with WO senior leadership as well to become familiar with WO values etc.
